National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic Fellowships

Information about NIHR funding opportunities and support available for AHPs.

The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) have appointed Dr Carole Burnett as a lead training advocate for radiography.
Carole will provide support and guidance for radiographers applying for NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) fellowships.
Carole, lead radiotherapy research and innovation radiographer at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, was awarded an NIHR CAT fellowship to complete her PhD in 2010.
She has since secured almost a million pounds in research funding and has worked to increase the numbers of non-medics applying for NIHR fellowships.
ICAs provides research education opportunities for non‐medics, from those who want a taster in research (pre Master’s internship) through to a professorship, and allow individuals to combine research with clinical practice.
NIHR training advocates, such as Carole, are ambassadors who promote clinical academic careers and support individuals through the NIHR fellowship application process. The NIHR have recently expanded the professional membership of training advocates to include radiography.
If you are considering applying for an NIHR fellowship, please contact Carole for advice: [email protected]
