Leanne: Therapeutic Radiographer and Trainee Mammographer
Leanne Rowan started her radiography degree in 2009 at University Campus Suffolk. She decided to become a therapeutic radiographer because she loved the combination of patient care with the technical side of radiography.
Loryn: Consultant Radiographer new
Loryn Caulfield qualified as a therapeutic radiographer in South Africa in 1998 and has been working in Oxford since 2001.
Naomi: Senior Lecturer
Naomi Shiner is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby, teaching both undergraduate and post graduate courses. She has had had a varied career since qualifying as a Radiographer in 2000.
Veena: Clinical Learning Facilitator
Veena first qualified in 2001 and started working at the Leicester General Hospital as a “shy, quiet but conscientious ” radiographer. After two years in plain film imaging, she gained confidence and decided to specialise in intervention and angiography Screening.
Gavin: from assistant to advanced practitioner
When Gavin Cain was employed as a trainee assistant practitioner at Colchester General Hospital in 2004, he was determined to make the most of the opportunity.
Claire: mature student
Claire Carter is a diagnostic radiographer at University College Hospital in London. Previously a graphic designer, she decided on a career change because she wanted to do something more meaningful and worthwhile.
Heather: Macmillan radiographer
Heather Dias qualified as a therapeutic radiographer in 1980. She has undertaken a variety of postgraduate education modules to become an advanced practitioner, specialising in gynaecological cancers.
Sylvia: trained overseas
Sylvia Ibie qualified at the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1997 and has been working as a radiographer in the UK for 15 years.
Laura: returned to practice
Laura Johnson was a radiographer in a busy NHS breast screening unit before taking seven years out of the profession to look after her young daughter.
Stuart: advanced practitioner in radiotherapy
Stuart McCaighy was the first therapeutic radiographer in the UK to achieve advanced practitioner status.
Claire: research radiographer
Dr Claire Mercer worked as a radiographer for 5 years before specialising in the field of mammography. She progressed to being an advanced practitioner performing interventional breast biopsies.
